A woman in Astrabudua (Erandio, Bizkaia) is at risk of being evicted. He has lived there for more than four decades and is at risk of being on the streets because of fraud. The woman explained that, in her day, she asked for EUR 7,000 from a loan company located in Bilbao. Lenders had imposed untold interests on him and forced him to place his house as a guarantor. The debt generated by this tax fraud has now been affected by the eviction of housing.
"Today I am homeless because on Tuesday [12 November] I will be evicted," said the woman in a video released this weekend by the Socialist Housing Union of Uribe Kosta. In addition, municipal social services have not, for the time being, assured them of accommodation alternatives: "They offered me a social housing. Today is Saturday, there is no housing, there is no key, there is no contract".
"Once again, thousands of euros of providers' benefits are prioritized over a person's right to housing," said Uribe Kosta's Socialist Housing Union. In fact, he warned this neighbor of Astrabudua that a moratorium on evictions has not been imposed nor that the situation has been aggravated by the "abandonment of municipal services": "[Victims] The characteristics of the housing offered to him are unknown and they have not given him the key to it."
In particular, the eviction is planned for Tuesday, and so the trade union has called for it to be dealt with. He has called to turn to number 7 of the Astrabudua Aldaieta Road at 09:00 in the morning in defence of the right to housing. The Socialist Housing Union of the Basque Country added that "in order for there to be no other empty house for the business, join the eviction".
