Comparsas de Bilbao will replace Aste Nagusia for a Week Revolt
- Bilboko Konpartsak will not celebrate Aste Nagusia this year. However, as we explained on 18 July in the Arenal bilbaíno, from 22 August it will be the means to rejoice, entertain and give culture to Bilbao, afflicted by the pandemic and the economic crisis. We have called "Aste Nahasia" the simple program of recreational and cultural activities that we will organize to summarize the situation of contrasts that Bilbao will live in the usual dates of Aste Nagusia. We presented the first initiative: poster competition. On the other hand, the comparisons have made an appeal to defend public services and popular parties and cultures.
Today, 18 July, the Konpartsakide Eguna was celebrated, a celebration among the comparsas that for Aste Nagusia launches the heating of the engines. However, the health situation and the reality we live have forced us to organize other types of events. So, in the afternoon, "Pushing the parties! Under the motto '', we have made a demonstration in favor of the popular festivities, from the perimeter of the holiday enclosure of Aste Nagusia.
As we have explained in previous days and weeks, the comparisons are already looking at the coming months and years. Because we fear that, as in previous crises, the institutions will obstruct popular festivities that take advantage of the new normality and the economic crisis: cuts, obstacles and bans, that go against the participative model and that promote the privatization of this sector, as has happened in health, education, etc. For this reason, we denounce the situation and advocate for the popular movement, calling the party agents of the Basque Country to work together to defend and care for the participative model in the new normality.
Revolving Week
But this year we haven't missed it. This year will not be Aste Nagusia, but from 22 August it will be the means to rejoice, entertain and give culture to a Bilbao hit by the pandemic and the economic crisis. We will do so from the mutual care, with health measures and following prevention criteria, popular, feminist, Euskaldun, ecologist and participative. We have called this initiative "Aste Nahasia."
Behind this name, we have drawn the current contrasts: sadness, joy, collectivity, absence of Mari Jaia, shock and call for the defense of public services and popular festivals and cultures: A Week Revolt, for being a sad year, for the family, friends, colleagues and neighbors that we have lost, for those who have not recovered the work… A Week Revolt, to find the joy and the smile that we need most in this situation… A Week Revolt, because we need a colorful and collective initiative that unites us all again, even if the physical distances are maintained… Summer Masks are seen. Week Revolt, a crazy and crazy Aste Nagusia, when over the years we have managed to discover some habits and little order, because this year has completely changed, until they disappear from sight… A Revolt Week, because despite the fact that we are still in a state of shock and fed up with it, we have to have our ears untied and our eyes open to defend public services.
Since last October, hundreds of comparisons have been preparing the traditional Aste Nagusia, but the Covid-19 plague has put us all on our feet. Thus, the 566 events scheduled last year have been the subject of analysis and adaptation to current health measures with dozens of agents working with Bilboko Konpartsak. In addition, they have created other initiatives. However, most of them will not be able to do so this year, after they all pass through a broom on several occasions. In the coming weeks, however, we will be publishing a simple programme of recreational and cultural activities.
Poster contest
Thus, on 18 July we presented the first initiative of this Revolving Week: We will choose the Revolt Week through a poster contest to announce it and have started the registration. The poster must necessarily contain the following text: BILBAO 2020. WEEK REVOLT. From 22 August.
