Marina Bernardó resided in Barcelona until his arrest in August 2001. The Civil Guard ordered the arrest of Marina Bernardó as part of the operation against ETA's "Barcelona Command". Five years after the flight, he was arrested in 2006 in the French village of Quezac together with two other members of the French Judicial Police and the Anti-Terrorist Sub-directorate of Gendarmerie.

In 2008 and 2011, he was sentenced to two nine-year prison terms for a terrorist offence. In 2014, when the first conviction was due, the French authorities imposed a preventive regime on him in order to be able to hold the final trial. At that time, they reported that he was in the cell for more than 22 hours. In December 2014, the Paris Criminal Court sentenced him to 17 years in prison for a crime of theft committed between 2005 and 2006.

Reception in the district of Gràcia

On June 3, after leaving prison, more than 200 people came to the reception of the Gracia district of Barcelona with stars and red flags. They gave him a bouquet of flowers and a memory of the “Rescat” group before taking the floor. Bernardó explained in Plaza Raspall that the help and solidarity received had helped a lot and offered the concert to colleagues who are still in prison. After a multitudinous Brindis, he entered the independence bar “La Barraqueta” to remove his photo that he was in prison.

Rescat

The Kataulunia Political Prisoners Support Group "Rescat" was born in 2001 to demand the freedom of detainees following police operations against ETA members in Barcelona. In addition to helping prisoners, “Rescat” is the support of their family and friends, due to the dispersal and state of emergency suffered by prisoners.

Following the release of Marina Bernardó, the only Catalan prison that is in prison for integration into ETA, Dolores López Resin, is released in Brieva prison (Avila).
