A member of the Housing Union of Vitoria (Álava) was arrested on Monday by the Spanish Police at the bus station. A deportation file in force against him was transferred to the Aliens Office. Convened by the Housing Union, on Monday evening there was a protest to the Aliens Office to demand the immediate freedom of their partner. After this, the union continued to work to liberate the Moroccan member of origin.
In 2021, the young man was arrested for facing eviction, so they started a deportation procedure against him. "For some to stay a eviction can be an economic fine and for others an expulsion from the state," the Housing Union said on Monday. "It is even more difficult for immigrant prolarians to defend and organize their living conditions," he added.
Free from Wednesday
Police forces had until yesterday evening a person in danger of being deported. However, the Housing Union announced at night that its colleague was already on the street, even though he had to endure "bureaucratic obstacles and police abuse" during his detention.
"This situation is not an isolated reality: hundreds of migrants live in our city," the union members again stressed. On the other hand, to "end evictions and deportations" they called for the organization of socialist self-defense.
