The justification is technical, but political pressure is fundamental: on Friday, 26 April, when the details of the exit from the Freedom Fleet were finalised, another obstacle jeopardises the mission. The new problem will delay the fleet and could definitely prevent the initiative.

The Adkeniz boat has to sail with a flag of convenience from Guinea-Bissau, against which Israel has positioned itself as the political threat against its maritime blockade.

Ann Wright, representative of the Navy, announced at the Tugra Hotel, the nerve centre of the initiative, his daily meeting: "The Government of Israel asks Guinea Bissaukoa to withdraw the flag of the Adkeniz ship," explains the former US army colonel. "We didn't expect it, but Guinea Bissau owns this flag and we have to accept it," the organizers said in the Tugra room. "These pressures show that Israel is politically ambushed," says Wright.

The organizers recall that in March of this year, Umaro Sissoco, president of Embaló Guinea Bissau, met with Israel's President, Isaac Herzog, who showed a "profound friendship" between the two.

A Guinean inspectorate visits the boat on the afternoon of 25 April. Inspection can be extended and the organisation of the fleet does not know how long it will take. This endangers the mission. Fatigue and frustration accumulate on the shoulders of hundreds of people waiting to climb the Adkeniz and Underence ships. The boats are in the shipyard of a port near Istanbul.

"We're on the final straight," they acknowledged. The idea is to go ahead, but we also look favourably at any similar initiative that can be taken from another port in the coming weeks or months.

In statements to El Salto, the former mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, and the leader of Barcelona in Comú, one of the main international figures with the intention of embarking on the fleet, has denounced that the Israeli Government "has threatened the fleet through the media for a few days and is pressing as we have seen today". Colau added that "the silence of European democratic governments is very loud, they are complicit in these threats and pressures and what is happening in Gaza".

The organization calls for at least two more days to be expected in the city of Turkey. The message is that whatever happens, the fleet will come out, but uncertainty is growing and people coming from 30 countries are showing signs of tiredness. Some people have been in the city since 12 April and have already suffered four delays in the planned departure. These departures were to be on days 18, 21 and 24. The economic cost of the stay is another factor added to the difficulty of continuing. The State of Israel is looking at a movement of human and Palestinian rights activists from various Arab countries, America and almost all of Europe.

"We are not going to lose hope, for more than seven months Gaza resists and we are going to keep it," said Ismail Varol, leader of the Turkish religious organization of the IHH. IHH is the main sponsor of the fleet in the country. In fact, Ismail Varol has concentrated most of the aid he wants to send to Gaza.

Work was advanced on Wednesday and Thursday to prepare the departure. All members conducted training without violence or resistance against a possible Israeli attack and provided the appropriate documentation to the Turkish authorities. The Turkish authorities have not given their official refusal, but this is not ruled out when the fleet leaves. Israel’s response shows that a small representation of hundreds of people has made a state with economic, political and military weapons very nervous.
