Once again, shepherds and cheese have been the protagonists in the streets of Ordizia. From nine o’clock in the morning, it has been possible to enjoy different activities in different points of the town. The most outstanding activities of the day have been the Special Fair and the Herd Crossing, which have taken place in the Plaza Mayor of Ordizia and through the Old Town. This year around 1,500 sheep have crossed the Gran Vía, divided into five herds, and with this event the Idiazabal Cheese season has been opened. In addition to these activities, the Plaza de la Garagartza has hosted a haircut demonstration, cheese making and pulp tasting, as well as the sale of lamb skewers. With the weather, a lot of people have gathered in the streets of Ordizia.

On the other hand, the Idiazabal Cheese Regularity Quality Awards have also been awarded to Pastor Marta Pérez Loperena of Egozkúe (Navarra) in the Pastoralist Cheese category and to the Idiazabal Chestnut Shop in the Chestnut Shop category.
