The Israeli army has announced that a “tactical stop” will be carried out for 11 hours a day, i.e. not to attack the road linking southern Gaza with the north to “facilitate the transport of humanitarian aid”. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the army’s decision is “unacceptable” and has shown his opposition to the plan. According to some experts, the differences between Netanyahu and the military authorities are becoming apparent.
UNRWA reports that the attacks have continued, both in Rafah and in other parts of Gaza, even after the army has announced arrests. The international organization warns that Israel’s operation “has not changed anything yet.” The Zionist army itself clarifies that they will maintain “normal operations” in Rafah, south of Gaza.
Israel is beating more against Rafah in recent weeks. On Saturday there are eight Israeli soldiers who have killed dozens of Palestinians and wounded hundreds of people. Over the past six weeks 1.3 million people have had to flee from Rafah. UNRWA has announced that 65,000 people remain in Rafah, “six weeks ago they were about 1.4 million.” Since October, 37,347 people have been killed by Zionists in Gaza and 85,372 wounded, according to the latest data.
At the beginning of the genocide, following the attacks of 7 October by Hamas, Netanyahu formed a war cabinet, along with Benny Grass, a political opponent and other authorities, trying to represent the “national unity”. In the last week, however, Gang and another cabinet member have resigned on the grounds of discrepancies with the Prime Minister on how to act in Gaza and, above all, the lack of a post-war plan.
Following the resignation of these cabinet members, Netanyahu has been under pressure for the far-right minister to enter the war cabinet. Ministers Rayel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir have asked for their participation. But Netanyahu decides to undo his own cabinet arguing that without Fats and “centrists” it makes no sense to maintain this apparatus. From now on Netanyahu decides in a group closer to the details of the genocide. Some experts say that no major changes are expected even after the dismantling of the cabinet.
