Arkaute must collect applicants who do not have the Basque level B2
- The Administrative Tribunal of Vitoria-Gasteiz has approved the appeal of the UGT union and has ratified the judgment: municipal agents will not have to certify a minimum level of Euskera. The Hearing grants the Arkaute Police Academy two months to recognize those who were left out of the job market.
The UGT union turned to the Arkaute Police Academy’s 2021 job market, because it demanded level B2 in Basque and that “causes discrimination.” The Administrative Tribunal of Vitoria-Gasteiz gave him the right in September and has now given a firm ruling: local police will not have to certify minimum levels in Euskera.
The court has given two months to the Arkaute Academy to re-recognize the absences of the 2021 workbag by the linguistic profile. The decision was taken in September and the administration has not appealed during that time. The judge is Ana María Martínez, who forced the City of Laudio to re-hire an official who did not meet the language profiles. He argued that Euskera is "among the most difficult languages in the world."
CCOO also resorted to the Arkaute Labour Exchange and called for the Basque level requirement to be removed. UGT member José Luis Ahedo pointed out that "it makes no sense to leave out candidates who will end up working in Castilian speaking countries because they have not accredited the high level of Euskera".
Protocol on judicial assaults, Councils
On the day of the notification of the final judgment, day 24, the Council of Euskalgintza carried out the assessment last year and presented the roadmap for 2023. It anticipates that a protocol is being developed to deal with court decisions against language rights.
