The re-invoicing is the result of a ruling by the Spanish Supreme Court. The Court has ruled that the marketing margin that electric companies responsible for the Voluntary Price of the Small Consumer (VPSC) have received since 2014 is low. As a result of the decision of the Supreme Court, the Spanish Government has increased its marketing margin by Royal Decree. This law foresees, on the one hand, a 0.2% increase in receipts and, on the other hand, a rebilling to receive the amounts not charged to customers since 2014.
Facua explains that in 2014 the Ministry of Energy miscalculated the cost of commercializing electric power, and in the last three years the bills have been made incorrectly. The Ministry of Energy is now authorized to charge all these bills at once.
Facua warns of the dangers of having this rebilling “in a coup”. He denounces the government’s “lack of sensitivity” to the “serious” economic situation of many consumers, as well as those companies that have decided to collect the re-invoicing money in a single period, because the deadline was until September 30. The Association notes that consultations have already been received from affected consumers who have experienced a 50% increase in the payment receipt.
