The Light Awards will be presented on Friday at the Atxega Palace in Usurbil
- The Atxega Palace in Usurbil, on January 31, will gather around a hundred people from the media, culture and public institutions. After lunch, the award ceremony will take place at 16:00. The winners will receive the latest trophies from Antton Mendizabal. The Donostian sculptor will say goodbye after making souvenirs for the winners since 1991.
Today is the 36th edition. Guests will arrive at the Atxega Palace, located in Usurbil, at 1:00 p.m. and there will be room for a chat around the hors d’oeuvres. In accordance with the custom, representatives of the media, culture and institutions will take the photo. After lunch, prizes will be awarded at the event presented by the authors of the podcast Nagore Irazustabarrena and Axier Lopez Memory Hysterics.
Six prizes will be awarded this year: audio, audiovisual, press, Internet, communication campaign and merit. After lunch, as soon as the prizes are announced at 17:00, all information will be available on the LUZ website. At 20:00 you will be able to see the full session in argia.eus.
Throughout the year, after working at LUZ, in the autumn the citizens were asked to propose who deserves the Luz Awards, and as every year, the LUZ team has decided who has stood out in the communication in Basque in 2024. The winners do not have any money, but with the recognition of LA LUZ, they will be awarded the trophy made by the sculptor Antton Mendizabal. Mendizabal’s sculptures have been distributed since 1991 and will be the last to be made by the San Sebastián artist, who has decided to retire from this factory. Miel Anjel Elustondo gave a nice interview: “At some point things have to end, we have already complied with the Light Awards.”
