The Lurzaindia association and the ELB trade union announced on Monday that the Parisian couple who intended to buy three houses and four hectares of land in the area of Berrueta, in Arbona, has regressed in their decision. The land in Berroeta was to pay EUR 3 million. For the time being, the notification has been issued only orally and the staff members are awaiting the written document. If not, Lurzaindi’s spokeswoman, Dominika Ameztoi, warned that “they will return to the facts”.

For its part, the OECD and Lurzaindia announce that they will go to trial against the farmer who bought the remaining twelve hectares, Pauline Desurmont. He is accused of being “playing” in commerce. In fact, in the usual procedures, the anti-speculation structure SAFER has priority to buy, and it is the structure that distributes the land to the peasants after analyzing the conditions of the candidates.

“Aware that it would have no priority,” land defenders denounce the Desurmont lie. When buying land, he said he lived in Bidart (Lapurdi). The members of the union and the association wanted to refute it by making it public in Vivienda Larribar (Nafarroa Behera), 80 kilometers from Berrueta. They say that Bidartea is a family home, and the appearance of Monday has been faced with it, as a protest.

Last week, Labrador Desurmont acquired the property of the land of Berroeta for EUR 200,000, without the right to usufruct. However, agents believe that they will also acquire the right to enjoy "within three years". The SAFER structure has estimated the price at around 100,000 euros. Therefore, on September 29, a notarial office in Baiona was occupied to declare the sale as “a financial assembly”. Lurzaindia and the OECD point out that they are engaged in the fight for the sale of these lands, because they fear that if they are speculated in a significant way, the risk of these prices being imposed also for the surrounding land increases.
