The Consortium has twelve seats and no bilingual seats were foreseen in the 2022 Organic Staff. Since 2017, members of the Adios and Tirapu consortium have been in the mixed area, so their citizens have the legal right to address the Administration in Basque.
“We made a complaint,” said AET, “and the Consortium tried to argue that, on the one hand, the Euskaraz Group was not entitled to file the complaint and, on the other, that some workers in the consortium know Euskera.” Ararteko did not accept these arguments and accepted the TSE complaint.
Regarding the knowledge of Euskera by some workers, the Defender insisted that if the Organic Staff does not include the bilingual profile, these workers may be absent and their substitutes may not know. The AET makes it clear: “The Organic Template is the tool to guarantee a bilingual profile and the Ararteko understood it.”
The Consortium for the Development of the Middle Zone of Navarra has two months to answer if it accepts the recommendation: “Let us hope we accept it”, has been determined from ETT.
Fine for AEK placements in Pamplona
AEK Professor Idoia Saez has been fined EUR 150 for placing last September the signs of the registration campaign in the New Street at the head of the city. In the interview held in Euskalerria Irratia, Saez reports that every year posters are placed by the Region of Pamplona at the beginning of the course and that this year was also working on it.
During the placement of the posters, two agents asked for identification, because they said someone called them indicating what they were doing, and in that case they had to request identification and complete the part. On the arrival of the fine, however, it was specified that the call was made by the agents in street clothes and that they had also been recorded with a camera. “We told them that as we received the grant from the City Council of Pamplona, the poster contained the logo of the city council and the identification made no sense.”
The fine was received on December 21 and is based on the breach of article 36 of the Pamplona Municipal Ordinance on the promotion of public conducts and the protection of public spaces. Saez denounces that he has received the fine in Spanish and that this violates the Municipal Ordinance of the Basque Country.
Asked about the possible appeal, Saez points out that the registration campaign ends on January 31 and that it is then that the Euskalgintza of Pamplona will decide what to do, “I have made it available”.
The Navarra Federation of Municipalities and Councils was born with the objective of "protecting and promoting their shared interests and local autonomy". A Communication Officer will soon be selected who will have to master Spanish and Basque.
