There's a lot at stake, and that's also noted in the big turnout. Already, in addition to continuing in the government that forms JxC with the ERC, the division of the party is also at stake. Carles Puigdemont, still the leader of independence, and the party president, Laura Borras, are supporters and join them, for example, the counselor Gemma Geis.
They are in favour of continuing in the government, for example, the first president of Jordi Sánchez, the former mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, or the former prisoner and advisor, Joaquim Forn. On behalf of his current institutional position, Turull Secretary-General Jordi Turull has not made his opinion public. Jaume Giró, Victoria Alsina, Violant Cervera and Lourdes Ciuró are supporters of the current directors of the Catalan Government continuing to govern.
The Government of Aragon is wobbling
Even though the supporters win, the Pere Aragonès government is very much in dispute because it seems that the opponents would accept it, so it is very likely that the party will break. If supporters win, they may not break the match, but Turull would work with his hands to stitch the wounds.
If the result is unfavourable, JxC would carry forward the motion of confidence that has hitherto been paralysed by referendum, with the current government falling. He has announced that he would only govern Aragon, but without the support of JxC and the CUP, which has on many occasions denounced the failure to comply with the government agreement with JxC and ERC, he should seek the support of PSC and Comune, and if he did not succeed, elections would have to be called.
Civic list
But in addition to the government, independence is in a very difficult situation, as was clearly seen in the Diada riots this year. Directed to the protesters by videoconference, Carles Puigdemont asked the government of Pere Aragones to fulfil the mandate of the referendum.
While ERC is committed to the strategy of strengthening independence and channelling the second referendum, ANC and Puigdemont supporters approve on 1 October and proclaim to act according to it. If not, they believe that the Council of the Republic leading Puigdemont should assume this responsibility and therefore lead independence.
In this situation, on October 11, ANC announced that if the independence parties and the government do not prioritize the order of October 1, ANC will study the creation of the fourth independence force to be presented to the elections: Civic list. Before next February, ANC announced that it will convene the national conference and then decide what to do.
Walk from a train station, two friends and a hug. This hug will be frozen until the next meeting. I'll come home, he'll stay there. There, too, will be free the painful feeling that injustice wants us to catch. Jesús Rodríguez (Santa Coloma de Gramenet, 1974) is a journalist,... [+]
