Ar Redadeg is another race to reclaim minority languages, the aim of which is to promote the Breton and raise funds for it. That is, it is an initiative similar to the Korrika, which emerged in 2008 as a result of the relationship maintained by some Breton teachers with the Arrigorriaga Institute. From 20 to 28 May, some 340 Breton villages will share the witness. It will start on Friday from Gwitreg and end in Gwened next Saturday. They will read the secret message of the witness and close the act in favor of the Breton with a “great closing party.”

As in the Korrika, Redadeg also raises money by selling kilometres. One of the organizers has told the details in Basque to Irulegi Radio and has specified that half of the money is allocated to the Diwan Breton schools, and the other half to some associations that promote the development of the Breton or Brittany. Today, the Breton has about 300,000 speakers and is one of the minority languages of the world. Through Redadeg every two years they give a boost to their language, just like the Korrika in the Basque language.

Sisters Korrika

A delegation from the Basque Country will go to the race for the Breton. Taking advantage of the brotherhood of Oiartzun with the people of Karaez Brittany, the Basque Country of Intxixu AEK of Oarsoaldea has organised a bus. They will leave on 25 May and will be present until the last party.

AEK adheres to all the Korrika sisters who are organizing in the world and who also come to the Korrika. Two other initiatives will be undertaken in June: The race for the Occitan La Passem will be held from 2 to 5 June and that of the alsazi Sprochrenner from 4 to 6 June. Other sisters of the Korrika are: Rith (Gaelic), Ras yr Iaith (Galesa), Correllengua (Catalan), Correlingua (Galician) and Lefkantun (Mapuche language).
