As they have added, only a few of the participants in the action have been notified of going to the area for notification. In particular, a dozen people on the platform participated in the action disguised as Olentzero; they took the coal to the betting house and threw it to the ground and left it. “The only gift we deserved in the betting house was coal. Because that is the only thing that deserves a wager, a game… and in general, an establishment that benefits from the citizens’ account.”
The security force has been mobilized today [16 January] at the Ertzaintza Police Station in search of notification of the complaint, although they do not intend to appear. “We were actually all going to go today, but in the end nobody goes. The lawyer advises us not to go.”
They have stressed that, although they have received the complaint, they will continue to denounce the situation "until the betting house is closed". “We are clear that these kinds of threats, accusations and facts will not silence us or harass us against those who want to take advantage of the precariousness of citizenship. What’s more, more rightly we start the fight.”
Given the seriousness of the problem, they want to raise public awareness of the importance of the situation and have invited them to participate in the forthcoming mobilisations organised by the platform. “The problem of betting houses is not individual, but collective; it belongs to all citizens! We go sooner than later to deal with this serious problem and to close the betting house forever.”
