Death of Lekonarra farmer and trade unionist Andde Dubois
- The well-known ELB militant died on 3 September, at the age of 49. The occupation of the lands of Arbona has been the last struggle carried out by Lekondarra.
Andde Dubois was one of the most well-known faces of the ELB trade union, which has been the scene of numerous battles. He joined the trade union as a young man, for the military, especially in the dairy cows sector. “Humble”, “simple”, “militant in its entirety: with its work part and with a clear reflection and vision.” Panpi Saint-Marie, a member of the ELB, reminds us of this. Along with her partner, Emilie, they had a small-sized cows' breed and produced eco-friendly dairy products. He has participated in collective projects by farmers such as Idoki or the Xixtroak collective.

In 1996 he took the succession of his parents on the farm and ten years later the project was launched. The dairy cows sector has suffered a severe crisis in recent years – because in an increasingly globalised and liberalised system the price of milk is low in order to cover all production costs. In order to survive the crisis, the couple had chosen to be as autonomous as possible: to transform milk and sell the benefits directly.
The last fight, in Arbona
The occupation of Arbona has been the last struggle carried out by Andde Dubois. Convened by the ELB and the Lurzaindia Association, 15 hectares of land have been occupied since 23 June in Arbona, the sale of which amounts to EUR 3.2 million. Andde Dubois died on 3 September, at the age of 49, as a result of a long illness.
