After X and Meta, Jeff Bezos’ company has suspended commitments to protect the rights of black people and the LGBTQ collective in their corporate policies. The measure is in line with the policy of reducing the diversity, parity and inclusion programmes of the multinational.
In a memorandum dated December 16, 2024, Amazon's Vice President of Experience and Inclusive Technologies announced that the company would progressively eliminate "outdated programs and materials" and, within it, reduce "some efforts" to increase diversity and inclusion.
The Washington Post reported that Amazon has removed from its website episodes of "parity for black people" and "LGBTQ+ rights", as well as all the allusions to the term transgender. References to parity and rights have become part of a general heading. In early January, the
Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes resigned from his work at The Washington Post for not having published a vignette containing several oligarchs. They were honored with what could be a Trump statue. The oligarchs included Jeff Bezos. He is the owner of The Whasington Post and one of the decisions he made during the campaign was that the media did not officially position itself in favor of Kamala Harris.
The news coincides with the ultra wave formed by the victory of Trump, his new friend Elon Musk, at an unprecedented event. John Deere, Harley Davidson, Walmart and McDonald's have also made decisions to reduce diversity, parity and inclusion initiatives, and these companies have been interpreted as "welcome" to Dondalt Trump. Next Monday, January 20, Trump will be inaugurated President of the United States.
On January 14, it is confirmed that Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, the three leaders of Big Tech, will be present at Trump’s investiture session and, in the case of the owners of Amazon and Meta, have delivered a million dollars to their “opening fund.”
