The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Town Council of Zumaia have begun the construction of the wooden platform at the Algorri K/T border observatory. This action has caused outrage in some citizens, who have expressed their opposition to these works. For them, "one of the most important cultural and natural heritage of the town is being destroyed in favor of tourist exploitation. These efforts have led to a turning point in the population. We think that the comments of the population are not taken into account and we think that for a protected area it is not the most appropriate reform”, they say. “All of this is the impact of mass tourism, and as long as we continue to put the red carpet on tourism, the problem will not be solved,” they stress.
The people are called for tomorrow’s demonstration. The mobilization will begin, united in the Plaza Baja, at 19:00. Afterwards, they will go through the Txomin Agirre pier to Algorri. There will be a reading there.
