Agents have taken action against security cameras installed on Aldamar Street, 32 from Donostia-San Sebastián
- A group of activists has withdrawn security cameras installed by the Aldamar Berri society at number 32 on Aldamar Street in the Old Part of Azkoitia and has taken action against one of the owners. On Saturday night, several posters were glued by the people with images of the cameras stolen to denounce the speculation of housing and the attacks on the neighbours.
The activists have pointed out that this is the second time that security cameras are installed in public space. A few months ago, the owners of the building also withdrew other cameras, claiming that this was a violation of the rights of the neighbours. The Data Protection Act establishes that the security function of public spaces corresponds to the State Security Forces and Bodies and only private cameras can record the public space in certain exceptions.
Several residents of the Old Party have repeatedly denounced that Aldamar Berri has begun to evict the residents of the property, stressing that what they intend to develop in Aldamar No. 32 is a speculative project.

Who is Jokin Errasti to attack the city of San Sebastian? This speculator believes that our city is its backyard, which can buy, sell and control as it wants. In the framework of the speculative project of Aldamar Street of Donostia-San Sebastián, the City Hall has continued to attack the neighbors of Portal 32. In fact, he installed surveillance cameras both inside and outside the building. They took it off and put the cameras back in. We took it off for the second time. The neighbor continues to fire, even though the neighborhood has made it clear that he is against these attacks, through posters, graffiti, okupaciones and demonstrations. He believes that these people have more legitimacy than citizenship.
That is why we want to make it clear that actions against these speculators are not just casual expressions of anger, but self-defence for the people and the neighbours.
