ELA announces the end of the strike at the ARGIA Agents Square:
Committee (ELA) and Company agree to maintain employment, wage increases and voluntary and incentive outflows
The indefinite strike initiated by the workers of Editorial Iparragirre (Deia daily) on 21 March has concluded with the agreement between the committee (ELA) and the company’s management. The reason for the strike was a collective redundancy SRE affecting all workers in the Boroa rotation (26 workers). Since the start of the strike, the entire group of the newspaper has carried out the strike, which in the first week had the support of many drafting workers.
After almost three weeks of strike, the strike committee and the leadership of Deia have reached an agreement for the end of the strike, and the most important contents are the following: One, relocation guarantee for workers who have chosen it; two, compensated voluntary departures with value of undue dismissal. Three, that until 30 June 2024 there will be no layoffs for those who remain in Deia. And four, a wage hike has also been agreed for Deia’s workers, after many years of wage freezing.
ELA welcomed the agreement. In addition, he has congratulated all the people who have been on strike, both in the newspaper and in the writing of Deia. They have all shown that despite the bad and complicated situation, the fight is worthwhile and is the way to achieve the goals.
