And precisely with this sense of calm, of traveling to the past, we find a nice trip when we went to the concert of Al Ayre Español, within the cycle of Antigua Music. This group, created in 1988 by director Eduardo López Banzo, is characterized by the use of historicist interpretation criteria and the use of instruments of the time.
On this occasion, Arcangelo Corelli, called 'Violinist of the Pope', offered a series of works around his school in Rome. The uniqueness of this program was the introduction of two anonymous Italian works that appeared in the Cathedral of Jaca. This group retrieved them and, after listening to the concert, we can say that they are of great beauty.
The two recovered works, 'Sonata terza' and 'Sonata quarta', were works full of nuances, very varied in terms of the temples used. Sonata quarta was especially beautiful, and the interpretation of the group was always tuned and compact.
We were also able to enjoy three Arcangelo Corelli sonatas. The refinement and richness of this composer's musical writing led us to the best baroque. The group, under the direction of López Banzo, made elegant and simple readings, without useless manerisms.
We were able to hear two works by Alessandro Scarlatti: a sonata for cello and bajo en re menor interpreted by Aldo Mata as an outstanding soloist, and for organ Escape from the secondo tuono, from the hand of López Banzo, which was perhaps something orthopedic.
As a tip, the delicious popurrí of the Neapolitan tarantelas (it seems that the tarantella originates in Puglia, as López Banzo told us). Enjoyment.
