The crew of Aita Mari expect to land in Sicily in the next few hours, official sources have reported. Following Malta’s refusal, the NGO Humanitarian Maritime Rescue has reported that the NGO finally authorised the landing at the port of Trapani on Sunday of the coordination centres in Rome, to which they have already arrived.
Last Tuesday, Aita Mari rescued 105 migrants in southern Lampedusa, the Basque Department of Security reported. For four days they had been sailing in the waters of Malta, where the ship was left motor. They are all men, two of them minors.
