Cycling march against the TAV from Pamplona to Atxondo
- Organized by the Navarre platform AHT Gelditu, which will be developed between 28 and 30 July 2017. Upon arrival at Atxondo, they will conduct a three-day camp in the Town Hall Square.
The AHT Gelditu platform has organised a cycle tour. It will start on Wednesday 28 July in Pamplona and end in Atxondo on 30 July. There will be a three-day camp until 1 August. The aim of the initiative is to call for the cessation of the works of the High Speed Train (TAV).
Organizers have reported that, after 15 years of work, 58% of the investment needed for the APR in the CAV is missing. In Navarre, ten years later, 96% of the total investment is missing in order to be able to start the railways. The platform has denounced that in order to achieve this funding the Government of Navarra will use the public funds it receives from Europe to deal with the situation after the pandemic.
Since the association states that while the impoverishment of the large sections of the population is taking place, there have been cuts in social matters and that, given the circumstances, it is unacceptable to allocate money to works. They have denounced that the TAV “is being imposed” because it is an infrastructure already built, but that the reality is another: construction can be paralyzed and for that the initiative has been launched.
Cycling march
The march will start at 9:30 in the morning of 28 July from the Provincial Council of Pamplona/Iruña. Once the inaugural day is over, the participants will cross Irurtzun and reach Etxarri Aranatz.
On the second day, the Pelotaris will pass through Altsasu and Salvatierra, and will end in Etura, where they will wait an hour.
On the third day, they will cross Arrasate and Elorrio and reach Atxondo. After the welcome act, the three-day camp will begin.
In the evening, events and conferences have been organized with the aim of raising the awareness of attendees. Meals and dinners will also be held in the premises, and tickets will be collected for this purpose. It will be essential to bring the bike and helmet to complete the round trip and, back, they will return to Pamplona in vehicles.
