Half a hundred people, organized by the Oarsoaldeko platform AHT Gelditu, have made an information march this Saturday on the route of the TAV between Astigarraga and Lezo. Over the course of the tour, the participants spoke with the area’s neighbours about the damage that will occur in the infrastructure. At the Renfe station, those who joined the march from Oarsoaldea met, and from there they went to Martutene. There they began the march to see how the tunnel and viaduct would affect, planned a few meters from the houses of Zapirain and Elenategi Berri. The Erbetegi Center, shot down to access Donostia-San Sebastián, also had a great historical value. They denounce the destruction of the TAV and other infrastructures on the other side of the Urumea River: “In one of the best rural areas of Gipuzkoa, the TAV and the accumulation of other major infrastructures mean great destruction, a destruction that is already underway.”
They made their second stop at the Atondegi site. “A member of the ornithology society Itsas Enara has given us information on the artificial wave that is intended to be built in the area. Along with this, we have mentioned the damage and risks involved in connection with the polygon 27 and the urbanization of these lands in this environment, as well as the initiatives that have been carried out and will be carried out against the project,” they explained. The participants jumped from Astigarraga to Errenteria-Orereta, following the route planned by the TAV, and surrounded the San Marcos landfill. In some sections, they have denounced that the tunnel, which is expected to pass very close to the villages, and that the baserritars in these areas have difficulty obtaining information.
Then came food time and one of the activists, Yolanda Barcina, reproached the former president of Navarra Yolanda for taking part in the tour zutenei.Oiartzunen, made their first stop at the Mamut Mall, where a giant viaduct is planned. Also in Lezo they were aware of the workshops that the TAV would destroy and the important area dedicated to the promotion of organic farming in rural Gaintxurizketa. The Intermodal Freight Station, 1.2 kilometres long and 115 metres wide, plans to build a logistics platform and a new road network.
“Over the course of 21 kilometers we have been able to learn about the harm that this Pharaonic project can bring, the lack of sense it has, and the thirst for development and money it reflects,” they have denounced. Opponents of the TAV have also set themselves in the allegations, to recall that there are dozens, but they have not received a response: “However, although it lacks approval, the research is very advanced and the surveys are already being carried out.”
In addition to the irreversible damage that would affect the land, this march also talked about economic damage, “the economic impact is huge, it has a budget of 4576 million euros, it has a cost of 50 million per kilometre, that to allocate 58% of what is going to be allocated to the CAV in the budgets being negotiated in Madrid explains well how this excess covers the real needs. The fact that some of the sub-projects we know today want to pay with Netxt generation support is an umpteenth mockery when we need more education, health and social justice.”
Finally, they have called to continue reporting, preparing and planting, “helping to keep the fight against the CVT alive, so that the CVT that we can still stop is a nightmare of the past.”
We have been with the "summer snake" over the TAV for a few weeks and with the possibility of linking the "Basque Y" from Pamplona, from Ezkio or Vitoria.
