EH Bildu has requested on Wednesday at the Congress of Spain explanations about the damage caused by the works of the High-Speed Train (TAV) in the cave of Lezetxiki in Arrasate to protect the cultural and archaeological heritage. Honourable Member Iñaki Ruiz de Pinedo accuses the Minister of Transport that the conclusions have not been investigated and that an activity has been carried out which has not remained in his day. In these two years he added that the effects in the cave have been "hidden and diminished".
Furthermore, the Member asks whether he has requested a "rigorous and technical" report on the damage caused. It adds that the Arrasate City Council and various social partners are requesting a report.
Transport Minister Raquel Sánchez said there was no damage: "Once the works have been supervised, the archaeological site of the Lezetxiki cave is in good condition." According to the minister, technicians from Adif and the Deputy decided to conduct a thorough investigation through the archaeological groups. In this sense, he adds that the general condition of the cave is good.
Ruiz de Pinedo accuses Sanchez of disregarding the damage caused in Lezetxiki: "We know that the damage caused is not back, but we hope to clarify responsibilities." In order to avoid further disasters, the honourable Member has asked the Minister to study further the project where it is still possible. In this way, you can bring in and enable a social train that respects the environment.
