The prison officials informed the three young people yesterday that they have obtained the third prison grade and today they have been given the first exit permit. At 09:15 hours they have crossed inside the doors of Zaballa prison to meet with the family and friends they were expecting.
Koldo Arnanz and Antton Ramírez de Alda, parents of Oihan and Adur, have appeared in front of the media at the prison gates. They are satisfied and say that it has been three and a half years since their children were imprisoned: “It’s been so long... Now they have to occupy the space that they have been robbed of.”
These three young people incarcerated in November 2016 are those who have been in prison for the most days in relation to the Alsasua case. In addition, they have the highest prison sentences: Oihan Arranz, nine and a half years, and Adur Ramirez de Alda and Jokin Unamuno, eight and a half years.
The nightmare continues
The parents of Koldo Arnanz and Antton Ramirez de Alda have had a special memory for the rest of the young people of Alsasua. Jon Ander Cob and Julen Goikoetxea are still in prison, with no exit permit. Both were sentenced to seven and a half years ' imprisonment. Iñaki Abadi and Aratz Urrizola received the third prison grade in December last year. From then on and through the door, they go out in the morning and go back to jail at night, and they spend the weekend out. “This nightmare is not yet over,” said Altsasu’s parents, and announced that they will continue to work “until real freedom is achieved.”
