EuskarAbentura, an expedition to learn about Basque history and culture
- The 121 young people who will participate in EuskarAbentura and their monitors and caregivers have departed from Maule, and as last year, Getxo will be their destination from July 31. On a journey of almost 800 kilometers, many stops will be made to get to know Euskal Herria first hand.
A total of 121 children from all over Euskal Herria and the diaspora will participate in the second edition of EuskarAbentura. Cyclists will have to travel a total of 798 kilometres between Maule and Getxo, of which 483 will be on foot. Like last year, the program will go through the Camino de Santiago, visiting areas declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, as well as other emblematic sites of the city. In addition, the programme will travel through the seven Basque capitals to learn about the evolution of the phenomenon.
On the last day, on 31 July, the expedition will arrive at Uribe Kosta, at a stage that will join Bilbao and Getxo, leaving in Getxo. Firstly, the members of the initiative will head by boat from the Biscay capital to Portugalete, and from there to Getxo. Arrival is scheduled for 11:00 in the morning. From the bridge they will walk to Muxikebarri, where the final act of the expedition will take place, between 12:30 and 14:30 hours.
Before this, the participants will have numerous meetings with experts in different areas, to get to know Euskal Herria first hand in the areas of language, history, society, nature and sport, among others.

It's Jzioqui! It's the motto of EuskarAbentura, and the participants have jzioquitarras. The team that will take care of the young and other works has carried out a specific training in the hostel of Barria (Álava) to work protocols that ensure the respect of different values during the journey. Thus, special attention will be paid to gender equality, waste management and, of course, the use of the Basque country.
In addition, they will have special measures to ensure safety and health care throughout the trip.
