November 25 is the International Day Against Male Violence. The feminist movement will mobilize in Bilbao, Pamplona/Iruña, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Donostia-San Sebastián and Baiona. In the manifesto published by the movement, they recalled the five women killed in Euskal Herria in 2024. This year’s motto is: If you're not the solution, you're a problem.
The feminist movement has a direct message for men: if you are not the solution, you are the problem. The manifesto states that "most men continue to show their complicity, their justification and their lack of commitment to denounce and eradicate male violence". He has accused them of "problems" if, after denouncing the violence, the word of the women is questioned, if the comments between friends are not cut off, if they point at the aggressor and do not look at their attitude.
The movement has acknowledged that changes have already taken place, but "slow". In the manifesto they have highlighted various forms related to male violence: the alarming increase in sexual assaults, economic violence, limitations and situations of irregularity, the rise of hate speech, social stigma, the violent treatment of cases of male violence in the media, the unequal sharing of care, misogyny in social networks and anonymous harassment.
Media and institutions
Several media outlets have denounced the facts, including blaming the assaulted person, giving their opinion in the tertulias and showing all their legitimacy, as well as offering morbid details when it comes to reporting. In addition to the media, they have also referred to the social networks of the city. They have stressed that in virtual space violence is taking on new forms and that we will have to think about how to defend them and how to defend them.
They have asked public institutions to invest in prevention and awareness, and not in police and control.
At the end of the manifesto, they claimed that feminist organization and militancy are essential to the "increasingly aggressive attitudes of men".
