The birth of the phenomenon known as the “Guggenheim effect” was assumed.
Although precariousness is very noticeable in any sector, its reflection in the peoples in which they live and in the working class of them is enormous.
In Bilbao we have seen the two clear parts: how they have started to increase precarious and discriminatory jobs in the world of work, or subcontracting, and how the living conditions have worsened, exceeding the limits of the pobreza.Calidad life and lost roots among macro-ebans.
I want to focus on the work model that has been created under the name of a collaborative economy, because it's one of the most painful.
Companies like Delivero or Glovo, to name a few, have come with the intention of staying with us. They sell the revolutionary organization through messages like “be the master of yourself,” and although they are initially aimed primarily at young workers, today there are many workers who try to keep their family with these jobs.
They say they are self-employed, but the reality is another: the platform controls schedules, prices, services, etc. Of course, it is a digital platform, never in-person, so they reduce the cost to a minimum. In the event of an illness or accident, all the responsibility lies with the worker. It should be noted that the price per hour of work is about EUR 3, the vehicle has to be put by the worker and pay the quotas of the self-employed... Pagotxa! New times, misery of always.
Potent, innovative and modern words are used around this area. Instead of firing, they “disconnect” workers. But we are clear about the meaning of these words, because it is unique: precariousness.
We do not lose hope, and it has been a great victory for the organisation of these workers and the creation of assemblies. Along with the creation of Cleta, Mensaka, La pájara ciclomessaging or Fairmondo or Fairbnb platforms from other sectors, we can say that there is light across the tunnel. The foundations of an ethical and just line, and these new models that can be incorporated so well into this modern world, show us that it is possible to guarantee workers’ rights and to support a dignified life.
