The Gaztetxe Hori Bai of Larrabetzu was founded in 1965, in the midst of the Francoist era. Since then it has not closed its doors and by 2025 it has turned 60. Under the slogan “60 years untied”, the members of the gaztetxe have begun the anniversary.
The programme that is being prepared for 2025 has also been announced at this Monday’s hearing. They have announced activities such as Hori Blaituz weekend, Hori Bai day, Larrabetzu Gazte Eguna etc.
Members of the assembly have explained that the 23rd building on Andra Mari Street in Larrabetzu is a gaztetxe that has been "beating" for 60 years. They have explained that, although it has been changing from generation to generation, it has been "a place to believe that another world is possible", a gaztetxe that shows that things can be done in other logics.
Members of the Assembly have recalled the defeat of the Church and the PNV and the threats of eviction, and have stressed that Hori Bai is still alive thanks to the solidarity and organization of the people.
As you have explained, Bai is a meeting place for young people of different generations, and a space that wants to be “liberating” against all oppression. In the face of the attacks and persecutions suffered by gaztetxes in recent times, they have claimed the need for spaces that are organized outside capitalist logic. In addition, they have invited citizens to participate in the activities to be organized within the framework of this anniversary and to join the assembly.
