A total of 50 residents of Arberoa, Izturitz and Aiherra (Baja Navarra) have occupied a site in Donamartiri to prevent the installation of the 5G antenna they want to install on it. Arberua Bizirik activists have set up a canopy and have identified a bord as a meeting point. They have announced their intention to be “day and night”, “as long as necessary”. According to the newspaper France Bleu, the telephone company expects to start installing the antenna this Tuesday afternoon in Madrid. The valley’s neighbours concentrated on 29 March and managed to paralyse the works. Now they want to repeat the “success” of the time.

The owner of the occupied land is the Afezetxe family, which also opposes the 5G antenna. Around 2016-2017 the location of an antenna on its grounds was approved and a contract was signed with the telecommunications company Free. But when they signed it, they told them it would be 4G, and now, knowing it's 5G, they wanted to nullify the deal, but the company hasn't left them. Florient Afezetxe made it clear that they are not against telephony, but against 5G: “We all have to talk on the phone, but 4G works great. 5G is for big factories, driverless cars and drone distribution; I don’t think we need it in Arberoa.”

The Mayor of Donamartiri, Antton Larraburu, explained that the Department Council has informed him that the antenna will be 4G+, which will allow mobiles with 5G technology to function. However, activists at Arberua Bizirik believe that this would be “the Trojan horse.”
