On Thursday, the second meeting of the Follow-up Commission set up to analyse the COVID-19 outbreak in Ordizia took place. There the Department of Health, Osakidetza and municipal representatives of the municipalities affected by the contagion related to the outbreak have met. The meeting involved the mayors of Ordizia, Idiazabal, Itsasondo, Legorreta and Tolosa, since all of them had detected cases related to the focus.
Cases are spreading beyond Ordizia to the border with Gipuzkoa. In fact, cases related to the outbreak have been detected in Álava and Bizkaia. According to data provided by Health Advisor Nekane Murga, 2,300 PCR tests have been performed in Ordizia, of which 2,200 have already been tested, and 35 people have tested positive. However, adding up the cases that have to do with the outbreak beyond Ordizia, the figure has risen to 58. According to the data provided by the Ertzaintza, 30 new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours, 16 in Gipuzkoa, nine in Álava and five in Bizkaia.
Given the number of cases in Álava, the Health Department is investigating whether there may be a new outbreak in the territory.
