4,826 people applied for asylum last year in the CAV

Increasingly dangerous routes
The agreements of European states with third countries for the departure of borders (such as Morocco or Libya) and the visa policy of the Spanish State hinder the access of migrants from countries with long-term conflicts (such as Syria, Yemen or Palestine), said the director of CEAR-Euskadi, Patricia Bárcena, “and are condemned to take increasingly dangerous paths.”
“The profile of most of the people we serve in CEAR-Euskadi are young people between 18 and 35 years old, almost half are women and the other half are men,” he added.
