The judge has annulled the fines in Vitoria-Gasteiz and reduced the fines in Bilbao from 2,500 to 1,800, with the option of a prepayment of 900 euros. In this regard, ERNAI has ensured that it has been proved to be an "operation against the Basque youth organization", which was a fine.
The Basque Government sent fines of between EUR 1,500 and EUR 2,500 to each of the members identified in the two initiatives carried out in Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz to denounce the imprisonment of Aitor Zelaia and Galder Barbado, under the Mordaza Law. In total, the total fines amount to EUR 290,500. At a press conference on 30 May, the youth organisation accused the Basque Government of trying to "economically stifle and politically eliminate ERNAI". On that day the violation of rights was denounced: "The situation is very serious, it represents a tremendous setback in civil and political rights, which highlights the anti-democratic attitude of the Department of Security and which aims to revoke ERNAI. But let them hear it clearly: you are wrong. We're here, we're many, and we'll keep working."
At the moment, 30 cases have been investigated and the case of another 100 young people has not yet been tried.
