Ibrahim and Charaf, two young people detained in October 2019 during protests against the Supreme Court ruling, were released on 2 July after eight months in Puig de les Basses prison. The trial was held in the Court of Girona and, although a sentence is still pending, both youths were received in the town square, according to the VilaWeb environment.
The trial of these facts began on 30 June in Girona following the protests last October. Demonstrations against the imprisonment of Ibrahim and Charaf were held from the outset. They were arrested on 16 October at the age of 18 and have since been imprisoned in Puig de les Basses prison. Justice María Elena Román Aita has claimed the "risk of leakage" to maintain her prison until now, as the young people, who were formerly under protection, have Moroccan nationality.
