Over 1,500 accessions to the works councils for the general feminist strike on November 30, according to the Feminist Movement of the Basque Country. This year they put the right to surveillance at the centre. Many activities and mobilizations will take place in more than 100 municipalities, in addition to the mass demonstrations of the four capitals. The strike has been supported by the following trade unions: ELA, LAB, STEILAS, ESK, EHNE, ETXALDE and CGT.
“The Basque trade union majority has brought the demands of the strike to all the workplaces, has received accessions and will hold hundreds of assemblies in the coming days to explain the reasons and call the workers to strike,” said the Feminist Movement.
The motto of the general feminist strike will be the defense of the collective right to care. Both women and men are called because members of the movement claim that the care crisis affects all people. However, they stress that “above all” is a work performed by women that becomes “invisible”.

They add that in Hego Euskal Herria "only 10% is managed publicly": "We do not have a public surveillance system, and in addition to the insufficiency of the service to dependent people, it is in the hands of private companies (Eulen, IMQ...). These companies put their interests first.”
Along with the devout unions, they have stressed that this year’s trade union goes “beyond production”. The members of the Feminist Movement note that the strike will be “historic”: “It will have greater social and political impact than 30 November and will continue in the coming months.”
A decision by the Provincial Council of Álava has left over 150 people without home service, according to EH Bildu. The Navarre Thycna Association has denounced that many immigrant women need to have a room in exchange of 700 euros, domestic staff or an inmate. LAB denounces... [+]
