As of Friday, thousands of people will walk the streets of Euskal Herria, dressed in the Euskaraldia veneer, to walk their day to day. In fact, Euskaraldia has begun today, a giant exercise that aims to bring about a change in the linguistic customs of Euskaldunes. The objective is to change the linguistic habits in the close contact networks; that is, to speak in Basque. Veneer represents the individual role: Ahobizi (people who know Euskera and have committed to speak in Basque) or Belarriprest (people who understand the Basque language, although it is difficult for them to speak more, and who will decide according to their ability when and with whom to speak in Basque. Yes, those who know Basque ask that they be directed to them in Basque).
Registration remains open
So far this year, 147,000 people have registered in Euskaraldia, 116,000 in Ahobizi and 31,000 in Belarriprest. Two years ago, 225,000 people were registered in the Basque Country, but the situation was completely different due to the pandemic. In addition, many of those enrolled in 2018 believe that this year they did not have to register, which were automatically part of the exercise. But that is not the case, and considering all this, the organization has extended the registration period and can still be appointed in Euskaraldia, either on the web euskaraldia.eus or in the Euskaraldia groups that have formed people to people.
The main novelty of this year is the arigunes, protected spaces to be able to speak in Basque. 6,800 entities have created more than 25,000 arigunes, including the Guaixe Foundation. You know that any speaker has the possibility to speak in Basque on these arigunes.
So, put on the veneer and put your language in Basque. As the motto says, more, more and more in Basque.

Euskaraldia comes back. Apparently, it will be in the spring of next year. They have already presented it and the truth is that it has surprised me; not Euskaraldia himself, but his motto: We'll do it by moving around.
The first time I have read or heard it, the title of the... [+]

On November 18, the “Euskaraldia” began, an initiative that aims to promote the use of Euskera among Basque speakers and non-Basque speakers for two weeks. Although I believe that this initiative has shortcomings in some contexts and there is no better veneer than “Good... [+]
