Children under the age of 14 will have the opportunity to help adults, among other things, "buy or go to the pharmacy". This was announced today at a press conference by the Spanish Government's spokesman, Maria Jesús Montero. The idea is, "The exit is controlled."
"We are aware that this is a partial reassurance point. Most children have been at home, the chance of being infected is very low. We propose that the exit be controlled and we ask for the responsibility of parents", added Montero. "Children will be able to leave with their parents in the tasks that their parents had the opportunity to do before. Now they will be able to do it with the child. There is no time limit. The child should go with the adult or with the person who lives in the day-to-day."
Pedro Sánchez said two days ago that children will suffer a lockdown that is not taking place. Asked about this, Montero has been convinced that there is no contradiction between what he said then and today’s measure.
Regarding the possibility of children being able to ride a scooter or bike, the spokesman said that he was not "advised", although he recognized that it is not the same a child "under one year" as a child "thirteen years old". Montero has not clarified whether minors will have to wear face masks or not, and has recognised that it is "difficult" for masks to be worn with appropriate safety measures.
Derogation in Europe
The Government of Pedro Sánchez has deaf ears to the recommendations of the other European States and of various international institutions of health, pediatrics and psychology so that the measures that the Spanish Government has established for children remain the hardest in Europe. Germany, Franzia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and other European states have in their measures the exit of children to the open air.
