According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, 32% of Osakidetza Intensive Care Units are complete and 43% of Osasunbidea. On November 10 there were 108 hospital admissions in the CAV and Navarra.
Of the 425 beds of the intensive care and resuscitation units of the CAPV 211 hospitals are patients infected with COVID-19. Basque Government spokesman Bingen Zupiria has reported that the health system has the necessary equipment and capacity to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, both in primary care and in the Intensive Care Unit.
In Navarre, the number of infections fell again on Sunday, reaching 182. The positivity rate dropped to 8.2%. The Government of Chivite says that it is still too early to start thinking about de-escalation, that we are in the second wave, and that even if the measures are yielding positive results, they will be maintained.
Occupation of the ICU
Basque Government spokesman Bingen Zupiria today announced that Osakidetza is delaying some operations to ensure the availability of beds and that he has the possibility of putting more beds if any. The spokesman says that the system is able to facilitate the care of patients with COVID-19, but also to respond to other emergencies (accidents, strokes, infarcts...).For this reason, he stressed the need to limit mobility and social life because "at any time any surprise can pass".
