Red Army freed Auschwitz concentration camp

The Red Army of the Soviet Union liberated the concentration camp at Auschwitz. It was the main massacre camp used by the Nazi regime. Over a million people were killed in the gas chambers: Jews, gypsies, Poles and lefties.

An estimated 1,300,000 people were admitted to this area of Herio (consisting of three concentration camps and carrion and 45 work areas). Over a million of them were killed under the leadership of Henrich Himmler, Rudolf Höss, Arthur Liebehenschel and Richard Baer.

The people who died there were mostly Jewish, although there were also political prisoners, Roma, Polish, Soviet prisoners of war and political dissidents with the Nazi regime.
