A chemical accident occurred in Seveso, Italy. Explosion of a plant from the multinational Hoffman-La Roche. The white cloud formed by a very toxic gas soon expanded. In addition to killing 75,000 animals, it contaminated 18 hectare land and caused permanent damage to hundreds of inhabitants.
