The Brazilian police tortured and murdered ten farmers of the Movimiento Campesino Sin Tierra who were occupying the Hacienda de Santa Lúcia. The occupations of Santa Lucia began in 2013 in the municipality of Pau D’arco, when the landlord died and stopped growing. The owner's son requested the suspension of the occupation, even if the land was not used.
