Second referendum on the independence of Québec. Participation was 94%, affirmative 49.42% and negative 50.58%. Québec is a Canadian territory with a Francophone majority claiming the right to self-determination. However, their indigenous people have not defended independence for fear of abandoning the demands of the peoples of origin.
