Journalist Pepe Rei dies. He led the research team of the newspaper Egin and founded the magazines Ardi Beltza and Kale Gorrian. He investigated political sewage in the Spanish state, the dirty war against ETA, its relationship with corruption and drug trafficking, or the alleged illegal financing of the PNV. That is why it became the focus of political and judicial powers in both Spain and the CAV. He was imprisoned three times for newspaper work and retired because of the serious car accident in San Sebastian in 2002. The family then begins to suspect the accident.
