The Basque pelotaris selected for the World Cup in Mexico signed the Manifesto by the Basque Team. They stated that they did not want to act as Basques, and also denounced that they were obliged to replace the colours of Spain or France, which could not defend the colours they felt, those of the Basque Country. Subsequently, athletes from other disciplines have also signed similar manifestos.
