Dozens of members of the Revolutionary Tenant Union of the Mexican city of Veracruz were killed by the police entering their headquarters. In the past few months, the union had dedicated itself to preventing evictions, occupying empty houses and organizing numerous protests. Women from working-class neighborhoods played an important role in the movement.
