The Mexican federal army attacked the student movement and caused a massacre in Chilpancingo. Since October of the same year the students had started a student strike to request the autonomy of the University of Guerrero. They also denounced the authoritarian character of the government of Guerrero and the citizens joined the movement. 20 people were killed thrilling the country. The following month the government of Guerrero fell.
