In the Canary Islands a concentration camp was opened to accommodate a large number of people from the LGBTI group. It was installed at the abandoned airport of Fuerteventura, in the village of Tefía. Not only were homosexuals maintained in that Agrarian Colony, but people from other categories covered by the Alfer and Criminals Act were also transferred. Forced labor, beatings, extreme hunger for prostitution with officials -- living conditions were very harsh. Franco banned homosexuality by law the following year. This space remained open until 1966.
