The Basque slave boat The Union fell in the Gulf of Mexico. The ship belonged to the brothers Juan José and Juan Bautista Zangroniz, who had been doing business with slavery for decades. The company of the brothers Kubara Zangroniz transported indigenous African, Chinese and American slaves. The Union was full of Mayan slaves on the Yucatan peninsula, many children. Archaeologists discovered the ship's remains in 2017.
