HDP Member Leyla Zana spoke for the first time in the Turkish parliament in Kuduera. She was the first woman to gain representation and took office with the colour headband of the Kurdish flag. When he spoke, many Turkish parliamentarians began to shout and insult.

Three years later, in 1994, PCC membership was falsely charged and imprisoned. The European Parliament awarded him the Sakharov Prize for his work in defence of human rights.
